June 26, 2913 has certainly become a historic day for Civil Rights with the Supreme Court landmark rulings on same-sex marriage striking down part of DOMA and dismissing Prop 8 in California.
Together these two big court decisions not only mark two significantly major victories for our LGBT community and gay supporters, but also represent two giant steps forward for our gay-rights movement.
Equality triumphed and love prevailed!
As president Obama said it perfectly in a tweet following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn DOMA - finding the controversial federal law that discriminated against gay couples in the US to be unconstitutional - "LOVE IS LOVE".
Our community and its gay right supporters celebrated Wednesday's historic wins by organizing rallies across the nation.
In Los Angeles, hundreds of LGBT Angelenos took to the streets of West Hollywood to cheer the Supreme Court's decision to dismiss the Prop 8 Appeal, and to celebrate California becoming the 13th state where same-sex marriage is legal.
Club Skirts joined the many men and women who assembled on Santa Monica and San Vicente Blvd to rejoice in this historic extension of our civil liberties!
To quote San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee: "Gosh, it feels good to have love triumph over ignorance, equality triumph over discrimination."
Here are the photos of the West Hollywood rally.
... Indeed, it was a GREAT day!
