MARIAH HANSON FOUNDER & PRODUCER OF CLUB SKIRTS DINAH SHORE WEEKEND TO BE HONORED BY THE CENTER AS THE FIRST RECIPIENT OF THE INAUGURAL LEGACY AWARD AT THE 5TH ANNUAL CENTER STAGE GALA

Palm Spring, CA - The Center – a Palm Springs, CA based organization serving the desert LGBT community – is honoring Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend founder and producer, Mariah Hanson, with the first ever “ Legacy Award” for her invaluable contribution to the Coachella Valley LGBT community.

The 5th Annual Center Stage Gala presented by Eisenhower Medical Center will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2014 at The Riviera Resort & Spa in Palm Springs, CA.

Hanson's visionary leadership as the founder of one of the Coachella Valley’s largest tourism boosters and undisputed biggest lesbian event of it kind in the world, the legendary Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend (aka “The Dinah”) makes her the perfect choice as the first recipient of this inaugural award.

Presented by The Center, the LEGACY award is a brand new distinguished honor, which pays tribute to remarkable individuals exemplifying the highest level of achievement and professional excellence when it comes to leading and travailing for the advancement of the LGBT community.

“When considering those who have made a lasting impact on the desert’s LGBT community, Mariah Hanson’s name quickly rose to the top. Her vision for an all-women’s event has become the largest lesbian event of its kind in the world. This is Mariah’s legacy to our community and our reason for recognizing and celebrating her outstanding accomplishment,” says Mike Thompson, Executive Director at the LGBT Community Center of The Desert.

To Take Center Stage at Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend’s World-Renown Pool Party

Power, pop/punk band and stars of “The Real L Word” Season 3, HUNTER VALENTINE, is confirmed to perform at the upcoming 2014 Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend – the largest lesbian event in the world (www.TheDinah.com).

The in-your-face all female rock band is set to take the stage at the Hilton Hotel in Palm Springs, CA, on Saturday, April 5 at 4:00pm during the legendary pool party.

Coming straight out of starring in Season 3 of Showtime's hit reality series The Real L Word, into the release of their third studio album, titled Collide & Conquer, and the nationwide “She’s So Unusual” tour with pop icon Cyndi Lauper, no one can deny the momentum behind rockers HUNTER VALENTINE.

Formed when singer/guitarist Kiyomi McCloskey met drummer Laura Petracca in a crowded bar in their hometown of Toronto, the two quickly forged an unbreakable bond that has seen the band rise to success dazzling audiences across the globe and singlehandedly invading our iPods.

Now with three studio albums under their belt, the band has grown into a veritable powerhouse, performing worldwide on over 200+ sold-out tour stops a year.

The ladies of Hunter Valentine are everywhere, making headlines nationwide from the cover of Curve Magazine to Huffington Post to Revolver Magazine's Hottest Chicks in Metal issue as well as a live TV appearance on Fox 5 in Las Vegas, A-Sides on The Huffington Post and Time Warner's "SoCal Sound" (entertainment magazine show on Time Warner Cable Channel 101 in Los Angeles), to name a few.

Continuing its intimidating rock fame doing what they know best - promoting their music through heavy touring schedule across the US, Canada, Asia and Europe - the band has solidified their line-up, put down roots in Brooklyn, and grown their fan base steadily around the world. Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend is a one-of-a-kind vacation spot where lesbians of all ages, interests, ability, relationship status, cultural background and profession come together for a long weekend getaway to meet and connect with other women, make new friends, reunite with old ones, and yes ... find their dream girl, and marry them!

We putting the spotlight on four adorable couples who met and found true love while attending The Dinah in Palm Springs.

And today they're sharing their (Dinah) "love connection" stories ...

"HOW I MET MY PARTNER":

4 COUPLES WHO MET AT THE DINAH!

1. LISETTE & PATTY

"We met in 2008 at the white party and exchanged numbers since I thought she was hot! She lived in LA and I was in San Diego and we dated for a about year before making it official.

We now live together, with our pooch Mozart, in San Diego." - Lisette Martinez

2. JENNIFER AND SHANETTE

"My wife and I at Dinah 2 years ago. If I recall correctly, this was at the closing party. We met in the hallway at the Riviera in 2010, and have been together ever since. She lived in Phoenix at the time, and I lived in Vegas.

We traded travel weekends EVERY weekend for 4 months until she moved to Vegas. We did our Domestic Partnership in March of this year, and will have the full ceremony in September 2015" - Jennifer McHugh

3. LILIA AND CHRIS

"Chris and I met working at Dinah in 2011. In 2012, despite the extreme long distance between us, we decided to move forward with our relationship and make the effort to see each other as much as possible and or Skype everyday.

It wasn't long before we couldn't stand being apart, I moved to Northern New York to be closer. I proposed and Chris said yes, and we married shortly after.

I am happy to say that we are celebrating our one year wedding anniversary on Nov 3rd and will continue to live happily ever after in Easter Canada." - Lilia Brekke

4. KATE AND NOELLE

"Noelle and I met BECAUSE of the DINAH.

My roomie Jenna was going solo & her girlfriend Liz told her " hey, my friend Noelle is going by herself too. You should meet her so you can hang out."

So on the Monday Night before the Dinah, my roomie, her girlfriend and I went to the Abbey & Noelle was going to pop over and meet Jenna so she they could talk about the Dinah and meet before the weekend.

I didn't know any of this was happening at the time until right before Noelle came by. I had never met her. She walked in and started to talk to Liz and my roomie. I was talking to someone else and then they made the introductions. We just all had a social hour and by the end of the night, I asked her to dinner and we went out the Wednesday before Dinah for dinner. The dinner led to her asking if I would like to join her at the Dinah Shore weekend, as she was staying at a friend's home and it would be a great way to get to know each other – plus I had never been.

So I was off to Dinah and the rest is history. I'm a psychic medium and this one event I didn't see coming*! lol

We have taken our relationship slowly up until about a month ago, when I asked Noelle to marry me.
When you know, you know.... :) So there you go
