A jam-packed crowd turned
out last night to kick off the 2013 Outfest
Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival in downtown LA. The first-rate Opening Night
Gala was, as in previous years, held at the historic Orpheum Theater.
The
bash started with a VIP Cocktail reception in the back lot of the theater while in front of the beaux-arts site some of our LGBT community’s finest talent simultaneously proudly strutted down the
glamorously chic red carpet.
The
event then moved inside the theater where prior to the screening of the opening
feature, writer/director Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss,
Carrie)
received an achievement award, presented in recognition of a body of work
that has made a significant contribution to LGBT film and media.

Outfest
officially kicked off its 31st Anniversary with the screening C.O.G (which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival), the first film based
on the works of humorist David Sedaris.
Based on a short story by
Sedaris, COG, directed by writer/filmmaker Kyle Patrick Alvarez, stars Jonathan Groff, Denis O'Hare, Corey Stoll, Dean Stockwell and Casey Wilson.
